Tactical Verdict

The 1960s selection is where football starts to feel more collective without losing its romance. There is structure, yes, but still enough individual freedom to make the team unpredictable.

Pele gives the attack its central mythology: power, invention, timing and a sense that the match can bend around one player. Around him, the decade adds wide danger, penalty-box instinct and technical elegance.

The midfield has a beautiful balance between craft and work. It can slow the game, combine in tight spaces and still attack quickly, which makes it less naive than a purely nostalgic reading would suggest.

At the back, the team is strong when it defends through anticipation rather than emergency. Against very vertical modern-style opponents, the key would be compactness between midfield and defence.

The verdict is generous but not blind: the 1960s side has one of the highest creative peaks in the database, and if the game becomes about talent solving pressure, it is absolutely terrifying.
