Germany - Centre MidfielderKapellmann, Jupp
Jupp Kapellmann was never the loudest name in Bayern Munich’s great 1970s machine, but that is exactly where his value becomes interesting. Small, quick and technically tidy, he gave Udo Lattek’s side a flexible attacking midfielder who could move between central and wide zones, link play, press, combine and keep the ball circulating around bigger personalities. He was not as forceful or decisive as Franz Roth, who carried more weight in big moments and struck with greater authority, but Kapellmann had mobility, intelligence and that precious squad usefulness elite teams quietly depend on. Before Bayern, he had already shown real quality at Alemannia Aachen and Köln, proving he was not merely a passenger in a golden side. His game was light, agile and practical, more connector than protagonist. A very good footballer, understated, versatile and easy to underrate if you only count the fireworks.
