Argentina - Centre-backDelgado, José Ramos
A strong and intelligent Argentine centre-back, José Ramos Delgado brought defensive authority with a rare ability to adapt across football cultures. Formed in Argentina and hardened at River Plate, he later became an important figure at Santos, where he played for years alongside Pelé, Coutinho and Pepe without looking out of place in a team full of artists. He was not a flashy libero or a brutal stopper, but a serious central defender built on anticipation, physical presence, concentration and clean decision-making. With Argentina, he played at the 1958 and 1962 World Cups, giving his career real international weight. His Santos spell showed his maturity: reliable, disciplined and technically secure enough to survive inside one of the most elegant teams of the era
