Italy - Right Winger Domenghini, Angelo
A great tactical machine sometimes needs one player willing to make the ugly run again and again. Angelo Domenghini gave Inter and Italy exactly that from the flank. Quick, strong and tactically generous, he played as a right winger or wide forward with constant defensive recovery, direct running, pressing and enough goal threat to punish teams that treated him as a simple worker. In Herrera’s Inter, his role demanded discipline without killing attacking output: track the full back, stretch the pitch, attack the far post, cross early, then repeat. For Italy, his equaliser in the Euro 1968 final against Yugoslavia was a defining moment, later followed by involvement in the 1970 World Cup side. Domenghini was not a pure artist like Corso, nor a static wide specialist. He was intensity with end product, a winger whose value lived in sacrifice, speed and timely damage.
