Anatoliy Byshovets

Dribbling was Byshovets’ first weapon, but not in the harmless “looks nice, goes nowhere” sense. As a second striker for Dynamo Kyiv and the USSR, he could receive between lines, turn quickly, eliminate markers and attack the box with sharp changes of rhythm. His 1960s profile was unusually expressive for the Soviet context: technically loose, inventive, unpredictable, yet still capable of producing decisive output rather than decorative smoke.
