Barry Hulshoff

Another product of Ajax’s magnificent 1960s academy, he lacked the international stature and natural gifts of some teammates, but remained a cornerstone of the greatest Ajax side ever for nearly a decade. A physically imposing centre-back and sweeper, strong in the air, composed in his bearing, technically very sound, and often willing to step out of defence and drive forward in search of glory.
