A refined Brazilian right-back with European tactical habits and unmistakable South American technique, Jorginho was far more than a simple flank runner. He had excellent timing in support, clean passing under pressure and a rare ability to choose the right moment to overlap without leaving the defence looking like a charity event. For Brazil, especially in the 1994 World Cup, he offered balance, intelligence and a steady supply of quality from wide areas, linking naturally with midfielders and attackers. Defensively reliable, technically polished and tactically mature, he represented the modern full-back before the role became a tactical obsession.
