Germany - GoalkeeperCroy, Jürgen
Jürgen Croy may be one of the most underrated goalkeepers in European football history, partly because he spent his entire club career at Zwickau rather than inside a louder continental machine. Tall, agile and remarkably consistent, he combined reflexes on the line with command of the box and clean handling, giving East Germany a goalkeeper of genuine international stature. He was not a showman, not a poster friendly acrobat built for mythmaking, but his shot stopping and authority were elite enough to place him in conversations with the great keepers of the 1970s. The 1974 World Cup win over West Germany and the 1976 Olympic gold gave his career historical weight beyond domestic reputation. Three times East German Footballer of the Year, Croy was far more than a local hero. He was a serious number one hidden behind the wrong curtain.
