Nigeria - GoalkeeperRufai, Peter
A charismatic Nigerian goalkeeper, Peter Rufai was one of the defining African number ones of the 1990s. Agile, brave and full of personality, he gave Nigeria presence during one of the country’s most exciting footballing generations. He was not the most technically polished goalkeeper of his era, and his style could sometimes feel emotional rather than perfectly controlled, but his reflexes, courage and authority made him a major figure for both club and country. With the Super Eagles, he played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, becoming a symbol of Nigerian football’s rise on the global stage. Tall, reactive and mentally bold, Rufai brought identity as much as saves.
